Main floor system has 17 year old furnace with dirty blower wheel. Changed filter cleared drain line and cleaned out pump. Evap coil is 2 years old. Outdoor unit has good pressures and good electrical connections and components.
Discovered failed secondary controller. Replaced controller and installed compressor saver hard start kit to reduce stress on compressor and reduce energy consumption on start up which will extend the life of the system. System is extremely old and replacement is highly recommended. System cooling at this time

Replaced capacitor and unit started operating normally. Checked amp draw and refrigerant pressures. Unit is operating normally at this time
System no cooling properly. Tech was out 7/31/2020 and 6/25/2020. Find system operating to manufacturer spec. Clean outdoor coil to help with cooling. Add additional .5 lbs of R410 to help with pressure. Supply temp at 53 degrees and house register at 68. Suggest to replace weak and capacitor and suggest to install starter to kelp improve start up and reduce. Install starter kit for condenser unit. System operating at this time.
Replaced upstairs condenser under unit replacement warranty. Customer is paying for labor. Pressure tested system and pulled vacuum to 500 microns. System is cooling at this time.
Completed diagnostic. Found outdoor unit with bad fan motor. Replaced fan motor. Amps are good on fan and compressor. Capacitor is good. Pressures are good. Delta T inside house is good. System cooling at this time.
Completed diagnostic. Compressor was not coming on on arrival. Tripped breaker and reset. Compressor turned on. Capacitor is good amps are high but within range. System is low on Freon. Leaking out of evap coil. Running on r22 which has been phased out. Due to age and cost of repairs suggest replacing system. Customer just wants filled right now. Confirmed with customer that compressor is giving out and will not last long as well as Freon will leak back out.
